Employment can be one of the biggest challenges facing people who have epilepsy. Approximately 50 per cent of people with epilepsy have difficulty finding and keeping a job. Of those who do find employment, up to 50 per cent are under-employed, meaning their positions do not make full use of their qualifications and experience.
Ontario law outlines and upholds certain employment standards. Employers and employees with seizure disorders must understand how epilepsy relates to their jobs under these standards.
