Prominent landmarks and buildings across Ontario will be illuminated in purple light on Friday, March 26th, 2010 to mark Purple Day, the international Epilepsy Awareness day.
Purple Day was founded in 2008, by nine-year-old Cassidy Megan of Nova Scotia, Canada. With the help of the Epilepsy Association of Nova Scotia, Purple Day has become an international grassroots effort to increase awareness about epilepsy. On March 26, people from around the globe are asked to wear purple and spread the word about epilepsy, which affects more than 50 million people worldwide.

In 2009, seven prominent landmarks in Ontario, including the CN Tower, Niagara Falls and The Big Nickel illuminated their buildings in purple to showcase their support. This year, eight Ontario landmarks will be basking in a purple glow to support epilepsy.
