Mission Statement
Epilepsy Waterloo-Wellington is a community based agency whose team of caring volunteers and staff are dedicated to improving the quality of life for those with epilepsy and their support network through counselling, education, advocacy and public awareness.
Services
Our Resource Library includes a wide variety of pamphlets, books, magazines, audio and video tapes, and articles on the many aspects of living with epilepsy. Members may borrow materials free of charge. The library is open during regular office hour.
We also have a computer with internet access available for you to do personal research. Please phone ahead to check for availability.
Our newsletter, The Epilogue, is now being distributed in an e-mail format four times per year. It includes current information on living with epilepsy, research and treatments, as well as upcoming events, awareness groups, and volunteer opportunities. For our members without internet access, a paper copy of The Epilogue will still be available.
Educational presentations are available, upon request, to schools, agencies, businesses, and the general public.
Kids on the Block is a puppet troupe consisting of disabled and non-disabled child-size puppets offering skits on: 1) epilepsy awareness, understanding, and first-aid, and 2) prevention of head injuries, including safe bicycling practices/use of bike helmets; importance of seat belts; and the dangers of drinking and driving.
One-on-one counselling is available on an individual or group basis in our Kitchener office. Please call (519) 745-2112 to book an appointment.
Teacher's booklets are available free of charge.

Get Involved by Volunteering
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to volunteer in our growing organization. Building a better and more empathic community, a higher sense of self-worth, enhancing your skills are only some of the rewards in volunteering. High school students –this is an excellent opportunity to fulfill your mandatory community/volunteer hours of 40 hours! Whatever your skill, you can help us to grow into a prosperous agency, please contact Catherine at 519-745-2112.
Board of Directors is instrumental in making decisions on the direction of our agency. On the board you participate in robust fundraising by soliciting funds from individuals, foundations, corporations and government entities.
Fundraising Committee assists to help design, organize and oversee fund-raising special events. Some of the fundraising events are chicken wing competition, and gift wrap campaign.
Program Committee is responsible for increasing public awareness and providing direction and organizing our educational and social events. Such events are bowling events, summer picnics and educating in schools and as well representing our agency on SEAC(Special Education Advisory Committee)
Finance Committee is involved in advising the President and Board of Director on financial matters. Developing a proposed budget for the following year and distribute it to the Board of Director for approval.
Membership Committee develops promotions programs to recruit new members and retain current members, both individually and at a corporate level.
Marketing & Communications Committee publicizes activities and programs through various promotional activities: including flyers, company bulletins, newspapers, radio, etc. Post-event publicity includes preparing and mailing releases for publications.
General Volunteer Opportunities are welcomed for fundraising events, volunteer driving, information booths and assist with educational programs to agencies and schools, and office assistances.
Bingo runners sell bingo cards to patrons, manage individual float and assist with clean-up.
Puppet Coordinators need to perform mental health-related puppet shows (for children aged 3+) using Kids on the Block puppets.

As a non-profit agency we depend on donations to provide services to those affected by epilepsy.
There are easy ways to help out.
- Save your Zehrs and Sobeys receipts
- selling the "Epilepsy Awareness Bracelets" and Lavender pins you also "Bring Epilepsy out of the Shadows"
When making a general or corporate donation over $10.00 you will receive a Tax Receipt. Epilepsy Waterloo Wellington charitable business number is 88992 6820 RR000.
