Epilepsy York Region is a non-profit, community-based, multi-service agency. Founded in 1988, it now provides support, education and advocacy to an estimated 7,300 to 14,600 people with epilepsy and their families in York Region.

Support Groups
A warm, safe, mutually-supportive environment is provided so that those affected by a seizure disorder cn meet and share stories, coping strategies and issues.

Epilepsy York Region Resource Centre
Collection includes books, videos, CD-ROMs, and vertical files on issues relating to both the medical and non-medical aspects of living with a seizure disorder. Hosts public information meetings and workshops/seminars on timely issues for people with epilepsy and their families.

Epilepsy & Employment
Services for people with epilepsy who are under-employed, un-employed, or seeking re-entry into the workforce. Includes intake, assessment, résumé preparation, referrals, volunteer opportunities, and advocacy.
Counselling
Intake, assessment and referral. Short-term, supportive counselling for adults with epilepsy and those who love, care for, or support them, following a solution-oriented model.
The Epigram
Quarterly, member newsletter offering the latest in treatments, news and events of interest to people living with epilepsy and their families.
Epilepsy Resource Kit for Employers & Workplaces
Our main goals in producing the kit are to educate employers about epilepsy and to demonstrate how we can work together to support workers and families living with a seizure disorder. The kit incorporates facts about epilepsy, information about job suitability and accommodation, as well as descriptions of our educational and support services, in a user-friendly portfolio format. Services of particular interest to employers include educational presentations, mediation, and our mobile resource centre.
