Winter Conference for Youth with Epilepsy
Epilepsy Ontario and the Epilepsy Association, Metro Toronto are co-sponsoring a Youth Conference for the weekend of 20-22 February 1998 at the Mansfield Outdoor Centre near the town of Alliston.
Teens with epilepsy will be able to meet others their own age in a fun and relaxed environment to enjoy group games, cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, fireside chats and lots of socializing. Workshops and supportive rôle-plays will be encouraged to discuss participants' challenges and triumphs in learning about themselves and how others live successfully with epilepsy. Seizure management, trigger recognition, stress management, relationships, employment issues and driving rights will be investigated.
There will be accommodation for 28 youths, between 13 and 19 years of age, who must be able to participate independently in energetic, outdoor activities. A staff of 6 will supervise.
Each participant's registration fee is only $50, including accommodation, meals and all activity fees. Your local epilepsy chapter and Epilepsy Ontario will subsidize the rest. Participants are encouraged to bring a "buddy" or sibling.
