Use of wireless "Baby Alarm" devices to relay audible signals from wired monitoring systems

These procedures permit the use of monitors with a simple radio alarm relay that many already have in their home. There are sophisticated "wireless" devices made by Aremco; however, they have not yet been approved for use in North America and other markets. Currently, they are only available in the U.K.

When a "Baby Alarm" is already in use to detect audible activities in a bedroom and to relay the actual sounds to a carer's room, it is possible to supplement this procedure with other monitors and also reduce the invasion of privacy caused by such a system.

In this way the scope of monitoring can be significantly increased to include the following:

1. For detection of various symptoms associated with an epileptic seizure such as the following:

      A. Body movement, spasms in bed
      B. Vocal sounds without invasion of privacy
      C. Cessation of breathing in bed
      D. Drooling or vomiting in bed
      E. Urination or heavy perspiration in bed
      F. Changes in respration rate

2. Wondering or confused residents
      A. Bed occupancy monitoring with bed-leaving alarm
      B. Floor pressure mat detection of wondering through specific areas
