Oxcarbazepine Oral Suspension

The American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted marketing clearance for an oral suspension formulation of oxcarbazepine (Trileptal®). It has been available in tablet form since February 2000 in that country.

A spokesperson for Novartis Pharma Canada said that there is no planned date for marketing this medication in Canada, although it was cleared by the federal government last spring.

Oxcarbazepine is indicated in the USA for use as monotherapy or adjunctive therapy in the treatment of partial seizures in adults with epilepsy and as adjunctive therapy in the treatment of partial seizures in children 4 - 16 years of age.
