New Scholarship Award for Young People with Epilepsy

Epilepsy Canada is pleased to announce the initiation of a new Epilepsy Scholarship Award for the 2003 academic year. This initiative, funded by Lundbeck Canada Inc., will help 30 young people with epilepsy across Canada continue their studies at the college or university level.

"The scholarship program will not only provide monetary help, it will also encourage young people with epilepsy to fulfil their learning potential," said Denise Crépin, Executive Director, Epilepsy Canada. "Young people with epilepsy can achieve just as much as any other young person without the condition."

Young people between the ages of 15 and 29, who are under the care of a Canadian physician for the treatment of epilepsy, can obtain application forms for the Scholarship Award from their local provincial epilepsy associations. In Ontario, these can be found online at epilepsyontario.org or can be sent, on request, by fax or mail. Scholarship applications will be judged by award committees comprised of people from academic, medical and the epilepsy association movement. Award winners will be announced in March 2003.

Lundbeck is a Danish research-based pharmaceutical company that specializes in the development and marketing of medications used to treat psychiatric and neurological disorders.
