MedicAlert speaks for you in an emergency

During an epileptic seizure your movements, sensations, behaviour or consciousness may be affected. You may be able to hear and understand what is being said to you but you may be unable to respond or your words may come out jumbled. If you cannot convey your needs quickly and accurately during an emergency, you may face unnecessary risk.

Emergency responders need to know that your symptoms are caused by epilepsy, because seizures or impaired consciousness can be symptoms of other conditions, such as alcohol or drug withdrawal, extremely low blood sugar, abnormal heart rhythm, migraines, movement disorders and transient ischemic attacks (mini-strokes).

Avoid the risk of misdiagnosis and give yourself and your loved ones peace of mind by allowing MedicAlert to speak for you when you are not able to speak for yourself.

MedicAlert identification immediately gives paramedics and other health professionals critical information about your medical condition, medications and implants. For instance, it can specify the type of seizures you are prone to. MedicAlert can indicate that you are on anti-seizure medications, which can interact negatively with other medications, or that you have an implanted vagus nerve stimulator - a pacemaker-like device designed to help reduce the frequency and duration of seizures.

Your MedicAlert record can also list other medical conditions, medications, surgeries or special needs, as well as your physicians' and next-of-kin emergency contact information.

A quick glance at the MedicAlert identification and a call to the MedicAlert 24-hour Emergency Hotline for detailed medical information saves time for confirming diagnosis and determining emergency treatment and gives a clear voice to anyone who is medically at risk.
