Lafora Disease


Lafora disease, a severe form of epilepsy, is characterized by seizures and progressive neurological degeneration. It occurs during late childhood or early adolescence. Death usually occurs within 10 years of the first symptoms.

LD - rare in Canada - is more common in Mediterranean countries, Turkey, India and Iran.
