The American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that 1 in every 56 adults in Texas has epilepsy, and that nearly half of these people report that the condition severely impacts their quality of life. (Prevalence of epilepsy is generally believed to be about 1 in 100.)
According to the CDC, 45.9% of persons living with epilepsy reported fair or poor health, compared with 18.5% of persons without epilepsy.
