Epilepsy, Employment & Training
Introduction
This Employment Training Kit has been created to help people with epilepsy prepare for employment and to learn how to make use of employment training programs which are available in Ontario.
Lack of training and education is often the hurdle to employment. By going through this manual and using the available opportunities, you will be one step closer to being "employment ready".
This kit is divided into two components: information guides and resource referral materials.
Information Guides will help you to create your résumé and cover letters, and to fill out application forms. You will also find guides for preparing for interviews, about job search strategies, and information to help you evaluate disclosure, and recognize and deal with discrimination, should you encounter it.
Resource Referral Materials include referral lists for organizations within Ontario organized by telephone area codes. Each list is divided into categories, such as employment services, training opportunities, employment services combined with training opportunities, education, apprenticeship programs, internship opportunities, etc., to help you determine what might best fit your needs. A brief explanation and/or list of services, current eligibility criteria, and contact and registration information are listed for each program.
Use this package hand-in-hand with the programs and services offered by organizations throughout Ontario to help you in your employment preparation.
Good Luck! For further assistance, please call your local epilepsy chapter.
